About our classes~

cOMmUNITY Yoga offers well-rounded yoga classes, taught in the Saraswati River Yoga tradition, designed to balance the physical and energetic bodies. This Vinyasa-style yoga simply links the asanas (postures, animated with breath and awareness) through sun salutations, creating a beautiful flowing practice. Our teachers provide skillful assists throughout the class with the intention to suggest the direction or flow of the asana and ensure safety.

Class descriptions~

Level 1 classes offer a gentle vinyasa (flow) practice focusing on the basics of yoga. This class typically includes flowing sequences, poses, breathing techniques, chanting, meditation, philosophy and deep relaxation. Level 1 is perfect for the brand new beginner, as well as those with experience who desire a gentler flow and review of the basics.

Level 1-2 classes offer a more energetic vinyasa practice with attention to the basics. Options are offered for those with experience who wish to go deeper with their practice. This class is appropriate for the beginner to intermediate practitioner.

Level 2-3 offers an intermediate to advanced physical class which has a more invigorating pace and more challenging sequences and asanas. Classes may include arm balances and inversions. Appropriate for those students with experience in at least ten Level 1-2 classes. 

Gentle Yoga provides a conscientious approach to mindful movement and breath, bringing prana to the entire body, creating a lovely yoga practice. This class allows for working therapeutically with yoga. Appropriate for the beginner and experienced student

cOMmUNITY Meditation offers a gentle guided meditation for any level practitioner. Experience deep stillness, abiding calm, peace, clarity and insight.

Private Sessions allow teaching to be individualized to the needs of each student. The teacher will work to meet the needs and desires of the student in a safe and private atmosphere. Great for working therapeutically with yoga. Please call 609-658-7243 to schedule. Session may be scheduled with teacher of your choice, depending on availability.

Hearts & Hips: An Opening

with Sherry Hanck and Janine Duffy

This two hour class will begin with a Vinyasa style flow and move down to the mat for a Yin sequence and extended Savasana (final relaxation). All levels welcome!

The Vinyasa portion will be lead by Sherry Hanck, a 13-year practitioner and local teacher whose biggest wish is to share the magic of yoga with as many people as possible. Her classes are light-hearted and fun. Expect to hear at least one Grateful Dead song among her eclectic mix of tunes.

The Yin sequence will be led by visiting teacher, Janine Duffy, from Boston. Janine is certified to teach adult and children's yoga through Radiant Yoga School and Radiant Child Yoga. She sees the fun in yoga for both adults and children. She has been actively practicing vinyasa and yin yoga for 2 1/2 years and credits yoga with making her a better wife, mom and friend.
