"I began practicing yoga in 1985, after
the birth of my first daughter. With her joyous arrival came the huge challenges of balancing motherhood, work and enrichment.
To assist me on my journey, I found myself enrolling in an Inner Quest Intensive at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health
in Lenox, MA. It was there that I first heard the words "to love others, first practice LOVING YOURSELF". While
there I also came to know and love Kripalu Yoga, which over these many years has been a constant renewing light of self love
on my multi-faceted journey through life. I am thrilled to be bringing Kripalu Yoga to cOMmUNITY Yoga! As one of the first
yoga teachers in this area, it is so gratifying to witness the growth of the center and yogic consciousness throughout our
whole country over the past 25 years." Amala's
classes reflect her life experiences as a wife, mother, Vocal Coach, Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher and Trager Practitioner
(psycho-physical movement re-educaation body-work). She lives up the hill in Ringoes, and maintains a home studio, Mountain
Point, with her husband Peter Elston of 32 years, and their two awesome cats; Prana and Conan (the Barbarian) ~ now that's
balance!
